Dean Hess was born in Southern California in 1971. At the age of 14 Dean began learning the art of metal sculpting from his father, and world renowned artist, Craig Hess.
Dean graduated high school in 1989 and in 1994 joined the Glendale Police Department. He retired in 2008 due to a back injury and began his new career as a full time artist. In 2018 Dean moved to Maui with his wife and two children.
Dean's artistic inspiration comes from his love and appreciation for the Hawaiian Islands and other exotic ports of paradise. The unique and intriguing copper and bronze sculptures are entirely handmade by Dean and available exclusively on the beautiful and enchanting island of Maui.
